Barbara Jean is an abstract artist who has been working in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1983. In the 90's she shifted her focus from representational art to abstract expressionism. Her acrylic paintings, interior landscapes and environmental reflections as experienced by the artist, are powerful and evocative, often bold in color, dynamic and passionate.
Her artwork touches upon universal themes that express a broad range of human experience including: Entrapment, freedom, autonomy, unity and relationship. Some themes appear repeatedly in her work, at times like a meditation, at times like a wrestling match, each time showing a different facet of the subject and a different resolution or result.
