Yes, No (excerpts)
Push, pull. Come go.
My answer is yes, no
as I love and I fear.
The child that I am still
believes in perfection and
the consequence of being less
than, still believes in crime
and punishment, sin and hell,
still lives it, though the sin
is not her own but ...
We are out of step as I
forget her legs are much shorter
than mine...
She will not let me leave
her behind. Like a hunted
beast she hides in my womb,
tenaciously claws a tunnel through
the wall 'til she reaches my heart
and seizes it with desperate
little fingers...
I must be what I never
wanted to be. I must be what
I always wanted to have...
May all the compassionate mothers
who live and ever lived
carry me.
May all the compassionate fathers...
